Henry had easily settled into life with his grandfather now that the appearance problem had been sorted out. The initial meeting had gone as badly as Henry had expected had he met the man here but now it was over, they were both putting it behind them. Gold had even offered some magic so that Henry looked himself and he'd tentatively agreed. Magic only seemed to cause trouble but he did like that he had his own face and not Pan's.

The only bad thing was having to go through Gold's bedroom any time he needed to use the bathroom. And one day, as he was creeping through, there was something on the bed. He looked curious at it and it opened an eye, looking menacing. Henry panicked and called out.

"Mr Gold! There's something in your bedroom." And it looks like it wants to eat me, was left unsaid.

Gold glanced up from where he was seated in the living room and after a moment to give certain areas in the room a quick glance, he knew what Henry had discovered. So or had an approximate idea at least.

Setting aside his book on the table beside his chair, he stood up and headed for the bedroom. As he'd thought Gloria was attempting once again to assert her dominance of the household. He couldn't help but chuckle softly as he walked further into the room and looked down at the golden fire lizard. "This little bossy lady is Gloria. She's what is called a fire lizard. Which is basically something like a dragon after a fashion, only more intelligent I've found."

Henry had edged away from Gloria at this point, nearing the bathroom and once Gold there and explained he nodded. If he'd known the man better he might have made a quip about dragons, especially considering what he'd done with Maleficent, but he didn't so he didn't.

He instead, jumped into the bathroom to do what he'd come to do and then picked up the conversation once he was done.

"Are there a lot of these in the city?"

"Not really, no. A few other people have them in the city, but they tend to remain with their owners and not cause any trouble."

Gold seated himself at the foot of his bed and reached over to stratch the golden lizard on the head, his fingers caressing the eye ridges causing the lady's eyes to close in pleasure.

"She won't eat you, nor will she attack you unless you give her cause to." His voice was perhaps a touch too amused as he reassured the boy of the little queen's harmlessness.

Watching his grandfather with the pet, he managed a small smile. "So she's like a small dog just without the walks?"

It was half a joke since she was nothing like a dog and she'd probably take offence at being compared to one but at the same time those mannerisms are the same.

"Something like that, though I suspect she's far more intelligent than any dog you might find." Gold replied with a bit of his previous humor lingering to color his words.

"She certainly eats far more than any dog, that's for certain."

Henry chuckled. "I wonder if I could find a pet so well suited to me." Because a small dragon did fit his grandfather well. He may be part Beast and part Crocodile but surely combining the two couldn't be far from a dragon in that anology?

"Well, there are a wide variety of creatures to be found in this place I've learned. Unfortunately the majority would rather harm you than befriend you."

He'd have to perhaps use Gloria to keep an eye on Henry while the boy was in the city. If only as a means of quickly alerting him should Henry have a run-in with some of the more nastier species in the park or beyond the city itself.

"You make that sound like it's unusual."

With everything that had happened in the other man's life, and even Henry's much shorter one, there always seemed to be more trying to hurt than to heal. It wasn't exactly the most pleasant thought even if he was right.

"Well, let's just say this place has more than its share of nasty things. Certainly far more than any of the worlds we come from. Or perhaps it merely seems that way due to them being concentrated in such a small area, hm?"

"Perhaps yes. Would you say it was about the same size as Storybrooke? It's certainly smaller than Neverland and I assume the Enchanted Forest as well."

The boy had never been to the latter place and given a choice of the two other worlds he'd just mentioned, he definitely have picked it over Neverland. Probably even before he knew of it's horrors.
